![]() ![]() Of course, in almost all VOBs, the audio will need to be delayed to sync with the video, by the amount indicated by the App MediaInfo, as 'Video delay'. The video from MediaCoder, with the MPEG4 and WMV (max bitrate) and Huffyuv was only marginally different in quality, as seen in Premiere CS3 and on a large Plasma TV, from the DV-AVI by Kate's Toolkit (Panasonic DV Codec, which works for both NTSC and PAL) and the ASF from Super 2009, although, the output from MediaCoder is a little clearer than the others because of more fine detail and better micro contrast! By the way, MediaCoder is more user-friendly and more informative as a GUI (properties and Statistics panels, etc) than the others. It takes almost twice as long to convert as the MPEG4 and its file size is about 10x larger, about 620 MB/min instead of 215 MB/min for 'normal' DV-AVI or only 53 MB/min for the MPEG4 Codec, above. However, they are difficult to edit because of sluggish scrubbing on the Timeline.Īn easier option is to use the Huffyuv Codec, as suggested by Mixer (above) – no render bar & smooth scrubbing. For Picture: Resize = 720x480 and Frame rate as 29.97 (safer than unchecked)! With the assistance of third-party programs, AVI can support chapters, captions, subtitles, menus, streaming, attachments, and 3D containers. AVI is a descendant of the Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF). For example, for Video, the MPEG 4 at 10,000 kbps (max output rate is ~5000 kbps), for Audio, the ADPCM at 44.1 kHz and 112 kbps and both with auto-select Source and FFmpeg Encoder. Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a multimedia container developed by Microsoft. ![]() And the quickest Codec to use is the MPEG4. The most acceptable container for Premiere is the AVI, which is quick to import. However, all but that created by the Huffyuv Codec are sluggish to scrub and play in Premiere and, therefore, difficult to edit! The ASF container, intended by Microsoft for its Windows Codecs will import to Premiere only with these Codecs – WMV and WMA. The video quality as seen in Premiere is equally good for all these Codecs, whether in AVI or ASF. Successful video Codecs are the MPEG4 (also one by MS), WMV, H264 and Huffyuv, each being with either MP2 or ADPCM audio at 44.1 kHz and 112 kbps, say. Premiere will accept the AVI & ASF containers, but not the MP4.
